The Brochure »The Austrian Health Care System – Key Facts«, which was produced by Gesundheit Österreich in June 2010, gives the reader a brief yet comprehensive overview of the Austrian health care system.
It outlines the structure and organisation of the Austrian health care system, presents key indicators such as health care expenditure or available human resources and describes the infrastructure provided for patients. Other topics covered include quality and transparency as well as issues related to health promotion and prevention.
The brochure is based on an analysis of the Austrian health system, which was prepared by the Health Economics department at Gesundheit Österreich and discusses the performance of the national (Austrian) health system in the international context. The report (Measuring the Performance of the Austrian Health System) was published in autumn 2010 (in German) and can be downloaded from
Measuring the Performance of the Austrian Health System (2010). Publication of an English version is planned for 2011.
The brochure »The Austrian Health Care System – Key Facts« is explicitly intended to meet the expectations of people who possess only limited or no prior knowledge of the Austrian health care system. The German version can be downloaded
