This Report aims

  • at taking comprehensive stock of the current data situation in the health care and nursing sector (number of nurses incl. international comparison, graduate figures of related vocational training pathways, etc.) with the aim of revealing existing data deficits and submitting suggestions for improvement in the data (preparing, collecting, assessing…)

  • reviewing the implementation of the 1997 Health Care and Nursing Act and the 1999 Training Regulation to uncover deficiencies in its implementation from the perspective of the members in the nursing professions and to propose solutions for these deficiencies.

In addition, the Report makes an assessment of the need for staff in the year 2010 for the settings of hospitals, homes for senior citizens / nursing homes, and mobile services; this is done on the basis of reviewing current numbers of nurses in the various sectors of health and social care against the background of related developments over the past ten years.
