Pilot quality reports
Although the current data situation is unfavourable for drawing up quality reports, the structural outline that has been developed can be tested in two fields: the pilot quality report on stroke care in stroke units will be published by the end of 2009, and the report on breast cancer will also be available in 2009, probably as an integrated health care and quality report.

Quality report on patient information
Quality reports on specific themes do not always focus on a certain disease but may also treat other aspects of health care: at present we are preparing a quality report that deals with patient information.

Regular reporting on the quality system in Austria’s health care system: The quality platform
The quality reports will regularly provide information on quality structures and quality projects in health care organisations. For this purpose data from service providers have to be collected continually. At present, we are designing a website that permits online entry of data, which will also serve as an information and communication platform (the quality platform).

Comparative literature research on national cancer programs
We are conducting a comparative literature research on existing national cancer programmes in Europe, Canada and New Zealand. The corresponding report will contribute to the understanding of the individual national cancer programmes and provide a basis of discussion and debate for decision-makers with regard to planning and developing an Austrian cancer programme.
