National HTA Strategy

In Austria, the systematic use of HTA is still in its infancy. For a systematic integration of HTA in health care policy decision-making, a national HTA strategy is needed. It will be drawn up in cooperation with representatives of the Federal and Provincial Governments and the social security institutions and in consultation with national and international experts.

The national HTA strategy is aimed at setting common goals in health care and providing a framework for a better integration and increased use of HTA in the Austrian health care system. It deals with organisational and regulatory conditions and issues to be covered in the HTA process (selection of subjects, quality assurance of reports, transparency, regular publication and implementation of results).
