ÖBIG’s activities in the context of the REITOX Focal Point also include the central functions of epidemiological monitoring and analysis of the drug situation. In order to perform these tasks specific measures to expand the monitoring system in Austria have to be taken: the more data of high quality is available, the more reliable evidence on the development of the drug situation will ensue.
In this field ÖBIG is responsible for implementing the epidemiological key indicators (surveys, prevalence estimates, treatment demand, mortality and infectious diseases). In addition, projects at the national level aimed at advancing the monitoring system are carried out. This includes activities to expand the existing data pool and also measures to improve data quality in the existing sources.
Since a few years the ÖBIG is increasingly in charge of the collection, processing and analysis of routine data sources (e.g. DOKLI, drug related deaths).
Projects and activities:
DOKLI - Treatment Demand Indicator
On-line register of addiction services
Analysis of drug related deaths
Further Development of the national Monitoring System
