Diabetes

The Austrian Health Institute was commissioned with two diabetes projects by the Federal Ministry of Health and Women (BMGF) in the year 2005: 

• the compilation of a study on the present situation and analysis of measures in the field of diabetes in Austria and Europe (completed in November 2005)

• and the organisation of an EU conference on the prevention of type 2 diabetes on 15 and 16 February 2006 in Vienna during the Austrian EU-presidency.

The conference has been co-funded by the European Commission, Health and Consumer Protection Directorate, and organised together with renowned international organisations - the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) Europe, the Federation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND) and Primary Care Diabetes (PCD) Europe - as well as the Austrian Diabetes Association (ÖDG) and the Vienna District Health Insurance Fund (WGKK).
