Transplantation

Christine Vranitzky Foundation

The Christine Vranitzky Foundation was established on 12 July 1994.

The objective of the Foundation is to promote transplantation in Austria. Its funds are to be used for measures related to organ transplantation. A specific focus has been placed on improving convenience for patients, with measures ranging from appropriate aftercare and rehabilitation after organ transplantations to occupational support.

The Administrative Board of the Foundation earmarks the annual interest accruing from the property of the Foundation for one or several projects in line with the objectives of the Foundation that may be implemented within the limits of the funding volume and have been approved by the Administrative Board.

Applicants may send their funding requests to ÖBIG Transplant. The application shall include a detailed description of the project and a financing scheme, and the concrete support sum applied for. Once a year (in September/October) the Administrative Board decides on projects that will receive financial support, then all applicants are informed on the decision, with reasons for accep-tance and refusal also stated.

As the available annual sum is limited it is impossible at present to support large projects in the context of this Foundation, and recently even a few applications concerning smaller project have had to be refused although they were in accordance with the basic objectives of the Foundation. For this reason, the medium-term goal of the Foundation is to increase the available funds so that patient-oriented projects may be supported to a larger extent. For potential financial backers interested in the Foundation we will be happy to provide additional information material.
